REGISTRATION RENEWAL
Every year you must renew your automatic registration. Our staff can help you get through this process much faster than you could directly through the DMV. Drop-in / Pick-up - Come to our office located in Ontario, CA, you can pick up your stickers and drop them off instantly.
WHAT IS NEEDED?
• Your old/expiring registration card.
• The DMV renewal sent to you by the DMV.
• If you do NOT have either the registration card or the DMV renewal you will need a REG 156 form, which is available here or you can walk into our office and get it.
TITLE TRANSFER
When you purchase a vehicle, you are required to transfer that vehicle into your name within 10 days, otherwise you will incur penalties. Our office located in Riverside can help you process the title from the previous owner’s name into your name.
Change of ownership with title: This is the easiest way to change ownership of a vehicle. The title must be present and signed on the front by the previous owner, and if your car is 9 model years or newer, the odometer section must also be signed and completed.
Change of ownership with no title: Sometimes people loses their titles/pink slips. In such a situation, that does not prevent you from a seller being able to sell the vehicle nor a new buyer obtaining ownership. For the most part, the form REG 227 and a REG 262 must be filled out both by the seller & buyer. The form REG 262 is NOT available online, it is only available @ the DMV and you can also pick one up at our office for free.
Change of ownership with no DMV record & no available previous owner: In a rare situation in which you have a vehicle that has NO DMV record and you do not have any paperwork from the previous owner, our office can help you process a title transfer. Certain criteria must be must to qualify for this type of transaction, so please contact us @ our office in Riverside so that we may discuss this with you.
Out of state title transfers: An out of state title transfer can also be processed by us. With an out of state vehicle it is absolutely necessary to have a title, otherwise, your vehicle will be issued a “golden-rod title” – this puts it in a category of vehicles that cannot be transferred. Some states do not issue titles, for those states, that is the exception.
Revived junk/salvage vehicles: We can help you gain ownership of a vehicle that was previously junked or declared salvage. You must have a junk title available to do this.
What’s needed to transfer ownership of a vehicle?
CALIFORNIA CHANGE OF OWNERSHIP
• Proof of ownership: A title, or in the case where it’s missing, a REG 227 and REG 262.
• Smog: For the most part, and with some exceptions, when you do a title transfer, a smog check must be done. Vehicles that are 26 years or older do not need to do this. And recently all diesel vehicles must do smog check now as well. Motorcycles until now are exempt for this requirement.
FOR OUT OF STATE VEHICLES
• Proof of ownership: A title.
• smog: (This only applies for vehicles that are 26 years or newer.
• VIN verification: We can process VIN verification for you, unless your vehicle is a salvaged/junked vehicle.
• A weight certificate must be issued in the case of pick-up trucks.
FOR SALVAGED / REVIVED JUNKED VEHICLES
• Proof of ownership: The salvage/junk title.
• Smog.
• VIN verification: (Unfortunately, this type of VIN verification must be done by a CHP officer).
• Brake & lamp inspection.
• Weight certificate in the case of a pick-up: (No matter how big or small).
SUSPENDED REGISTRATION
If you have not had insurance for more than 2 months the likeliness is that you are suspended! This is the DMV’s response to people who do not keep their vehicles insured when there are not in non-operation status on their vehicle. You will need the following to clear the suspension:
INSURE YOUR VEHICLE
• This is the first step to getting your suspension cleared. Our office can help you place insurance on your vehicle. The insurance company will electronically notify the DMV that you have insurance.
PAY THE $14 REINSTATEMENT FEE
• This is the second step in lifting the suspension. The refund fee can be done in one of the following ways: pay by mail or pay online. DMV field offices do NOT accept this fee, but our office can also help you make this payment, even if you don't have a credit card.
WAIT...WAIT OR...DON'T WAIT
• The third step to getting your suspension cleared is a matter of waiting. Your insurance company is supposed to notify the DMV electronically that your vehicle has insurance, however, this sometimes takes 2-3 business days, and sometimes more, and, sometimes less… but still.. It is not instantly, however… you DO have another much quicker alternative that will enable you to get this suspension removed INSTANTLY!.
ONE DAY PERMITS
In the situation where you are unable to pass smog, or you are in need to get an inspection, either brake & lamp or VIN verification, you may need a permit to drive from point A to point B so that you may complete it. Our office can provide you this permit free of charge, so long as you pay the DMV fees.
This is a one day permit that will allow you to complete the inspections necessary for you to complete your transaction, whether it is title transfer or registration renewal.
DUPLICATED TITLE
Did you lose, misplace or get your title stolen? Our office can help you to obtain a duplicate title. You must be the registered owner of the vehicle and also the address on file with the DMV must be the address where you want the title to.
WHAT DO YOU NEED?
• Form REG 227 • An ID or license matching the registered owner of the vehicle
THE COST
• DMV cost: $18 (Additional fees may be due if your registration is set to expire within 60 days, you will not be able to just get your duplicate title, you must pay these fees as well).
• Service cost: $28.
POSSIBLE PROBLEMS
• If you are not the registered owner, you will not be able to obtain the duplicate title.
• If your address on file does not match the address you want to have the duplicate title to get to, you will not be able to do both.
• If your registration is suspended, you will have to remove the suspension first in order for you to obtain the new title.
DUPLICATE REGISTRATION CARD
Was your registration lost, misplaced, or stolen? Our office can help you obtain a duplicate registration card instantly. You must be the registered owner of the vehicle to process this.
WHAT IS NEEDED
• A REG 156 form • An ID or license
If your registration is suspended, you will have to remove the suspension first in order for you to obtain the registration card.
REPLACEMENT STICKER
Our office can help you obtain a replacement decal in case it is lost or stolen. Most of the time a customer enters our office it is because the decal has been stolen from the license plate, or the entire license plate has been stolen.
